About Us

The Dhamma Volunteer Group UK (DVGUK) was established by The Tranquil Path Retreat Centre United Kingdom. Our mission is to support monastery programs and community service initiatives through compassionate volunteer action.

Our Vision

We provide a platform for putting Buddhist teachings on altruism into practice, welcoming volunteers from all nationalities, castes, creeds, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. Our only requirement is a sincere motivation to assist others through compassionate action.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers can contribute their skills and time in various areas:

  • Supporting the monastery library
  • Assisting at the Dhamma school
  • Coordinating events and youth activities
  • Managing websites and IT tasks
  • Transcribing and editing Dhamma material
  • Gardening and maintenance work
  • Providing transport for monastics
  • Organizing cultural/social events

Eligibility Requirements

Volunteers must:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Be willing to work cooperatively in a group setting
  • Commit to engaging in programs with good intention
  • Uphold the Five Precepts (Universal Code of Discipline):
    • Refrain from harming living beings
    • Refrain from taking what is not given
    • Refrain from sexual misconduct
    • Refrain from false and harmful speech
    • Refrain from intoxicants
