Education & Emotional Recovery Project for Children and Families Affected by the Ongoing Disaster in Sri Lanka

An initiative by Tranquil Path Retreat Centre UK

Sri Lanka is currently experiencing a severe and ongoing natural disaster, leaving thousands of families displaced, distressed, and uncertain about the future. Many children have lost their school supplies, shoes, uniforms, and even the basic necessities they need to continue their education. With the first school semester beginning in January 2026, many families are unable to prepare their children for the new year.

To support these communities, Tranquil Path Retreat Centre UK is launching a comprehensive humanitarian initiative focusing on education support and emotional wellbeing.

  1. School Books & Essential Supplies Packs

Each child will receive a complete pack including:
School books
Stationery
School bag
School shoes
Water bottle

Cost per full pack: £40
Target: 100 packs

Your contribution will help a child begin the 2026 school year with confidence, dignity, and hope.

  1. Motivational & Emotional Support Programmes (Jan–Mar 2026)

The disaster has caused significant emotional trauma among both children and adults. To help rebuild their mental strength and restore hope, we will be organising motivational and wellbeing programmes for the affected communities across 10 schools and local centres.

Cost per motivational session: £100

If you or your organisation would like to sponsor one or more sessions, we would be deeply grateful.
Please contact us at: info@tranquilpathretreatcenter.co.uk

How You Can Help

Your support—whether sponsoring a school pack or funding a motivational session—will directly impact families who are still struggling through this difficult period. Together, we can help rebuild lives, restore hope, and empower the next generation.

Let’s stand with Sri Lanka during this ongoing crisis.
Your kindness can change a child’s future

Tranquil Path Retreat Centre and RCPBS-UK Launch Online Webinar Series 2025

Commemorating the International Vesak celebration, the Tranquil Path Retreat Centre United Kingdom is also known as The Research Centre of Pali & Buddhist Studies in the UK (RCPBS-UK), stands as one of the foremost Buddha Dhamma education centers in the UK. We have been working with Buddhist scholars and other faiths in the UK and around the world to explore the utility of Buddha Dhamma for the wellbeing, sustainability, and contentment of the world.

The resident monk of Tranquil Path Retreat Centre, Bhante Arunasiri, together with the Board of Trustees and advisors, have always wished to arrange meaningful programmes for people of all ages in commemoration of Vesak Day. This purpose emerged in 2024 when we conducted a magnificent International Vesak Celebration in Leicester alongside different Buddhist traditions.

In 2025, our theme is “With Compassionate Hearts, Bringing Healing to a Troubled World.” Based on this theme, we have planned to organize online webinars specifically designed for all age groups.

Today’s world moves at a rapid pace, often ignoring ethical conduct in pursuit of individual goals. Due to excessive expectations, people miss out on satisfaction and become entangled both internally and externally, resulting in devastating physical and mental consequences. Attitudes continue to deteriorate as human qualities diminish.

We have planned these sessions to demonstrate how Buddha Dhamma can assist in solving these issues, helping people overcome such problems and encouraging them to recognize the value of being born human—to develop compassionate hearts and loving-kindness to nourish others in a humanistic way.

Three-Part Webinar Series

For this practical forum, we have invited experts in Buddha Dhamma to lead three online webinars:

Session 1: Keith Munnings, one of our advisory members who specializes in mindfulness meditation and formerly served as a Buddhist Chaplain, currently works at the Samatha Trust in Manchester.
Topic: “Mindfulness & The Four Sublime States: A Path to Compassionate Living”

Session 2: Alex Kelly will host the second session.
Topic: “The Art of Skillful Attention”

Session 3: Bhante Sumitta, who resides in the USA, is an educator holding a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of the West, Los Angeles.
Topic: “Vesak and its Deeper Meaning: A Call to Right Practice”

Moderator: Ms. Lakmali Marasinghe MSc, Award-winning TV Presenter, Cover Supervisor in UK, Protection Adviser

Session Structure

Each session will be structured as follows:

  • One hour dedicated to the lecture
  • The following 30 minutes reserved for questions and answers

These webinars represent our commitment to making Buddha Dhamma accessible to all, fostering compassionate hearts in our troubled world.
